Perhaps you’ve thought something like, “That couple seem so happy” or “I wish I had what they have.” You may have more than a hint of jealousy in your heart when you look at the lives of those in committed same-sex relationships. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” according to Proverbs 9:10. So, the starting place needs to be my relationship with God. Because if I don’t fear the LORD, I won’t think, speak or act wisely in my day to day living and decision-making.

God knits each of us together in a unique and individual way. Praise God, we are each ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’ by our perfect Creator! (Psalm 139:13-14). In a fallen world, this means of course that a person’s experience of same-sex temptations will be – at least to some degree – unique to them. Inevitably, then, there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to supporting people.
