Take Heart: London Conference with True Freedom Trust & Living Out
This year, at the Living Out and True Freedom Trust Joint Conference, we are going to be exploring together what it means to have a healthy and satisfied heart with Revd. Vaughan Roberts. Vaughan will take us to Psalm 27 to help us discover the three marks of a healthy heart. Then we will delve into John 4 to rejoice in the one who satisfies our deepest thirst. Plus, we shall be led in worship by Music Ministry, have a chance to hear stories of how God has been working in people's lives, and of course there will be lots of opportunities for community and conversation.
The conference is open to Christians who experience same-sex attraction, their friends/family/churches, and all those wanting to learn more about faith and sexuality.
About the Speaker: Vaughan Roberts
Vaughan studied law at Cambridge University before a brief spell in South Africa where he was involved in student ministry. He subsequently trained for Anglican ministry at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, and since 1991 he has been on the staff of St Ebbe's, Oxford, where he is now Rector.
Vaughan has written a number of books, including God's Big Picture, Battles Christians Face and True Friendship. In his spare time, Vaughan enjoys playing tennis and golf.
Seminar Options
We plan to offer three optional seminars before lunch.
What is True Freedom? (Andy Robinson, with Simon Byrne)
John 8:36 says that those who the Son sets free, will be free indeed. This verse helped inspire the name of True Freedom Trust. But what does it mean to be truly free? Is it the ability to choose from a range of options, or something more? This seminar will unpack the biblical concept of freedom, and show us how the Gospel brings freedom from sin, freedom from guilt, and frees us to truly love.
The Faithful Ally (Nat, Tim, & TFT Members)
How can we meaningfully support Christians who experience same-sex attraction and want to live for Jesus. In this seminar, Nat, Tim, and other faces from True Freedom Trust will share openly about what they have found helpful, and what has been unhelpful from their churches, friends, and family as they've navigated what following Jesus looks like.
Connecting with Young Hearts (Andrew Bunt)
Young people today are living in a world that is radically different to that in which most of us grew up. How can we help young people growing up in this new context to connect with biblical truth about sexuality? We'll explore the world young people are living in and ways we can seek to help them see the goodness of God's plan for sexuality.
